The Hate U Give Review

Starr feels like 2 people. There is the Starr people at school know, who talks different and is automatically cool, being one of the only black kids in her private school. Then there is the Starr that is known as Mav's girl in her neighborhood. That's the Starr who is too "ghetto" for her private school. And soon Starr has to figure out who she truely is and what really matters to her when one of her best friends is shot and killed by a police officer. Starr has to decide if she is going to stay quiet and safe, or if she is going to speak up for the boy who can no longer speak.
Everyone should read this book. It was an absolutely stunning look at violence in the black community and how that violence effects everyone. Inspired by Black Lives Matter, I personally believe that everyone should read to understand the movement and to see the world from a different perspective. Iwas in tears almost the whole way through and I woudn't have it any other way. I cannot say enough good things!
Rating 5/5 but only because I can't go higher!
