The Wrath and the Dawn Review

The Caliph of Khorasan takes a new bride each night and by sunrise they are dead. Shahrzad volunteers to be his next wife with the intention of putting an end to the violence, and an end to the Caliph. But the palace holds many dark secrets and Khalid may not be the monster everyone thinks he is. Can Shahrzad save herself and others from the hands of the "monster"? Or will her heart get in the way?
This novel is a retelling of a folk tale of a murderous king and a woman who uses her story telling ability to stay alive each night. The way that this story is told is stunning. The world is so well created and described that you can really feel like you are submersed in their world. The characters are fantastic and really built well. This is one of those novels that I loved so much that I read it in like a day. We don't get to see enough Y.A. novels that are set in the Middle East or that revolve around the folk tales from those areas. A fantastic must read!
